Utah

So for the past 5 days I was in Utah.  I went with my dad, and we stayed at a friend’s house.  What did we do, you ask?  I’ll tell you what we did.  We did a 3 day hike that people sometimes die doing in a day and a half with a bunch of dudes I’ve never met in my life.  It was the hardest thing I’ve ever ever ever done in my life.  I ended up rappelling (sp?) for the first time, and boy did I suck.  On one of them, I ended up hanging upside down over a twenty foot drop haha.  I also almost fell off a cliff, which was not very fun (that time I wasn’t rappelling and I had no rope to save me).  I’d never gone hiking hiking, like when you carry your sleeping bag and food and everything in one of those giant packs on your back.  It was insane.  The trip was grueling, especially since we were in the Utah desert and ran out of water at the end.  Basically, our guides forgot how intense the hike was, and also forgot the correct route of the hike too.  This is what happens when I trust my dad’s friends.  There was way too much that went wrong to put down here, but I’m actually glad I went.  It was just one of those awesome experiences that really makes you push past your limits.  All I have to say is I’m glad I’m nineteen, because the older guys were WAY worse off.  The feeling of fear while wandering through miles of the desert, desperate to find the next landmark on the map, followed by the swelling relief when the pickup car finally comes into view…the whole thing is indescribable.

Everyone’s wife was so pissed off at them when we were finally back within cell phone range.

I’ve got pictures, which I may put up if I’m not lazy.
